As the title suggests, that is exactly what I’ve done, and when you really stop to think about it, that is what we’ve all done at some point. Picture this; you’ve always had a passion for writing, but you’ve never known what to do with that passion.
Do you just do it as a pastime? Do you try to cultivate it and learn as much about it as possible? Do you try to become a writer? Do you start a blog about your constant existential crisis and use it to connect with people and write about what you are most passionate about?
Clearly, I chose the last option. I chose to click on the WordPress website and start writing, something that I had been putting off for years. Not days, not weeks, not months, years. Whatever my reason for existence is, whatever my purpose in this life is, I chose to do something.
It may seem small, insignificant even, but it’s something. As James Clear said in his incredible book ‘Atomic Habits,’ “It is easy to overestimate the importance of one defining moment and underestimate the value of making small improvements on a daily basis.”
I have chosen to make one small improvement in my daily life, and that is to create a blog and write my heart out, even if only a few people get to share in this journey with me. I would encourage others to do the same. Take one thing you have been putting off for any amount of time and take action. Pick up that guitar and learn to play one chord at a time, post some of those late night singing videos you took, make those muffins you’ve been wanting to bake, clean out that spare room that you said you would six months ago. You could even start your own blog.
I may not know the meaning of life, but I do know that it’s far too short to be spent hesitating and procrastinating when all you need to do to make it more fulfilling is one small thing at a time. One changed habit, one small step, or one click to start.
